5 tips to remove worries

Do you feel like you are not enjoying the good times in life because you are always worried about something? Are you constantly thinking about your children’s future, about financial or health problems? Do these thoughts prevent you from sleeping peacefully? Do you feel bitter about various problems most of the time?

It is necessary to learn to get rid of negative thoughts and to live fully, taking advantage of all that life has to offer. If you are feeling overwhelmed with worries, this article is about you.

Why do we care so much?

Many people worry because they believe this is the best way to prevent or solve problems. If they don’t care, they feel irresponsible. If they do not think about the problems or any problems, they will appear and bring with them serious consequences.

Although it is true that a certain degree of worry helps to avoid or solve some situations, worrying too much, in an exaggerated way, prevents us from relaxing and enjoying a beautiful sunny day or party, does not bring anything positive to our life, indeed , quite the opposite.

It is useless to worry when …

… This is a past situation. It is obvious that nothing can be done to change something that has already happened. What you can do, however, is to learn from mistakes or try to improve their consequences in the present. Remember: the past cannot be changed.

… Is a problem with no solution or the solution of which is not in your hands. If you can’t do anything about it, the worry doesn’t make sense, does it? Clearly it’s not that simple, but you have to make the effort to let go of these negative and counterproductive thoughts that ruin your days.

… It is a problem that has a solution. If you can do something to fix a problem that worries you, then stop worrying and get busy. In other words: do what you have to do. If the solution is not at hand, even though you have done everything you could do, stop worrying anyway.

Tips for setting worries aside

This is an exercise that can be of great help in looking at problems more objectively and making sure that worries don’t always flood your thoughts.

1. First, describe the problem that worries you, also focusing on the details.

2. Then, write down everything you think will happen.

3. Read what you have written and try to think objectively. Aren’t you exaggerating the consequences of this problem?

4. Try to think about what the person you admire most would say. What are the differences compared to what you think?

5. Cross out what may be a little over the top and you may see that the problem is not as bad as it first seemed.

And finally, here are some tips to minimize worries and enjoy life :

  • Focus on positive thoughts. Whenever you feel worried about something, learn to change that thought to a positive one.
  • Enjoy what you have and be grateful. We all have reasons to feel good, it’s just a matter of making a decision: focusing on what we have and not what we lack. The reasons to be grateful are very personal, for example having a home, a family, feeling the sun on your face, being able to take a hot shower, among many other things.
  • Be assured that you will be able to solve or overcome any problems that arise. Worry, many times, comes from fear. Fear makes us see problems bigger than they are. A piece of advice: see yourself and feel greater than the problem in question. In this case, you need to have self-confidence and know that there are no adversities that are impossible to overcome.
  • Seek help. If you really feel pressured by worries and problems and can’t be happy, even if you have tried, maybe it’s time to ask a professional for help.

Finally, don’t forget one thing: even if it is sometimes difficult to believe in it, feeling good and happy are decisions that are made. You must be aware of the great power that resides within each of you. When you set yourself a goal, trust that you will be able to accomplish it and do what you have to do to achieve it.
